1989
The First Ivy Ball
The inaugural Ivy Ball is organized in Hong Kong by the Columbia and Cornell alumni clubs, bringing together Ivy League graduates for a formal black-tie evening and establishing a new alumni tradition.
2000s
A Signature Alumni Event
Ivy Ball became one of the largest Ivy alumni gatherings in Hong Kong, attracting thousands of guests annually and introducing traditions such as school song competitions, dancing, and raffle draws.

The Ivy Ball marks 35 years of the modern Ivy Ball tradition in Hong Kong while celebrating the broader global network of Ivy alumni events connecting communities around the world.

What is The Coral Gala?
For 35 years, the Ivy Ball has been more than just a dinner—it has been a
celebration of connection, pride, and legacy for alumni of America’s most prestigious universities. Hosted annually in Hong Kong, the Ivy Ball is a
black-tie gala that brings together Ivy League Plus* alumni and friends for an evening of fine dining, entertainment, and meaningful connection.
This year’s theme, “Coral,” marks the 35th anniversary—aptly chosen as the
anniversary stone for its symbolism of longevity, success, and relationships and friendships that are shaped slowly and beautifully over time.

Who Can Attend?
All Ivy League alumni are welcome to register for the event. Admission is subject to acceptance and by invitation or approval only. Guests of Ivy League alumni are welcome, by invitation only.

How do I RSVP?
You may RSVP through the official registration link here. All registrations are subject to review and confirmation.
You may also register through your respective alumni club.

What is the dress code?
Strictly Black Tie. Guests are encouraged to dress elegantly in line with the evening’s theme. View recommended attire.
